Role Purpose
Ensures access to essential medications during disasters, coordinating pharmaceutical supplies, cold chain protection, and medication access for residents with chronic conditions.
What You Would Help Do
Before an Emergency
- Develop pharmaceutical supply and access plans.
- Identify residents dependent on essential medications.
- Build relationships with pharmacies and suppliers.
- Plan cold chain and medication storage protection.
During an Emergency
- Coordinate access to essential medications for residents.
- Protect medication supplies and cold chain during power loss.
- Work with Health & Human Services on medical needs.
- Coordinate with Trade & Commerce for supply logistics.
After an Emergency
- Support restoration of medication access.
- Document pharmaceutical supply gaps and lessons.
- Update pharmaceutical access plans.
Qualifications & Helpful Skills
Who would be a good fit?
Required
- Willingness to complete Weather Watchmen training.
- Pharmacy, nursing, or medical background strongly preferred for this role.
Helpful But Not Required
- Background in pharmacy, nursing, or medical supply
- Knowledge of medication storage and cold chain
- Logistics and inventory skills
- Coordination and communication ability
Training & Readiness
Volunteers are not expected to respond to emergencies without preparation.
Weather Watchmen volunteers may receive or be asked to participate in role-appropriate training, exercises, orientations, drills, and continuing preparedness activities before being assigned operational responsibilities.

No Ministry operates in isolation during an emergency.
Three-Deep Succession
Weather Watchmen's emergency management system is designed around continuity of leadership. Critical functions should have trained Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary personnel so that operations can continue if a primary leader is unavailable.
Multiple volunteers may express interest in the same operational area to build this depth.
