Our Mission
Preparing People. Strengthening Communities. Saving Lives.
Our Mission
The mission of Weather Watchmen is to educate, prepare, and empower individuals, families, and communities with the knowledge, resources, skills, and partnerships necessary to prepare for disasters, respond effectively during emergencies, and become more self-reliant and resilient when normal systems and services are disrupted.
We believe preparedness should begin long before an emergency occurs.
Our goal is to help transform preparedness from something people think about when disaster is approaching into a way of life practiced by families and communities every day.
Our Purpose
Disasters do not affect every community equally.
During major emergencies, first responders may be overwhelmed, utilities may remain unavailable for extended periods, transportation may be disrupted, stores and pharmacies may be inaccessible, and relief and restoration efforts may not reach every neighborhood at the same time.
Some communities may wait considerably longer than others for essential services and assistance to be restored.
Weather Watchmen exists to help close that preparedness gap.
We encourage individuals and families to develop the ability to protect and sustain themselves during the critical period between the beginning of an emergency and the arrival of adequate assistance.
Our message is simple:
Don't wait for help to become your plan.
Prepare before the emergency. Know what to do. Have what you need. Help one another.
