What We Do

"Watch the Weather"

Weather Watchmen works to strengthen disaster awareness, preparedness, self-reliance, and resilience within our families and communities through the following areas of focus.

Preparedness Education

We provide practical disaster preparedness education that helps people understand the hazards that may affect their homes and communities and the actions they can take before, during, and after an emergency.

Family Emergency Planning

We encourage every household to develop a family emergency plan that addresses communication, evacuation, sheltering, transportation, medical needs, children, seniors, pets, and family reunification.

Emergency Supply Readiness

We help families understand how to build and maintain:

  • •Home emergency supplies
  • •Emergency food and water
  • •Go Bags
  • •Vehicle emergency kits
  • •First aid and medical supplies
  • •Backup lighting and power
  • •Emergency communication resources
  • •Important document protection

Weather & Hazard Awareness

We encourage communities to remain alert to changing weather conditions, understand watches and warnings, recognize local hazards, and follow instructions issued by appropriate emergency authorities.

Community Preparedness

Individual preparedness strengthens the entire community.

We encourage neighbors, families, faith communities, organizations, and local leaders to work together to identify vulnerabilities, share preparedness information, assist vulnerable residents, and develop stronger community support networks before disasters occur.

Training & Outreach

Weather Watchmen supports preparedness through community education, workshops, preparedness fairs, presentations, demonstrations, outreach events, and other opportunities that place practical emergency information directly into the hands of the people.

Partnerships

No single organization can prepare an entire community alone.

We seek meaningful partnerships with emergency management agencies, humanitarian organizations, first responders, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, healthcare organizations, businesses, educational institutions, foundations, community organizations, and others committed to strengthening community resilience.
